One of the major characteristics in Kashmir is its long distinct hexagonal zones often filled with the flour inclusions that give the stone its glow. This "flour" is not resolvable under 160x. Ceylons sometimes have a flour-like inclusion (and the glow) but its not as fine and usually resolvable under 60x.

This "flour" or silk or however described has been thought to be very fine rutile needles.

Characteristic inclusion of UNTREATED KASHMIR SAPPHIRE are zircon, Uranite cubic crystals, tourmaline (black, pink) and very impotant Pargasite (can't find in other localities).
